Journey:
Kaine Henderson was quite the respectful student at Minnetonka high school. He was both cool and smart at the same time. Every time he walked through the East side doors of the school, he would high five his basketball teammates like Tony and Tim, then he would wave to the girl students every time he passed them. So basically, life for Kaine was pretty swell. While Kaine enjoyed his life and his school, he felt there was something missing and that was the thrill of adventure.
Finally, Kaine’s patients had paid
off, for one Wednesday morning in November, he found a poster Ever since he was
little, Kaine always wanted to travel to other states like Utah, or Florida, or
Even California, but his family just didn’t have the type money to travel that
much. The only other state Kaine was able to travel to was Wisconsin, where he
and his family would often spend time at the Kalahari resort on weekends in
August. Otherwise the other state they would travel to is South Dakota, where
they would spend time in the Bad lands and at Custard State park. But Kaine,
was interested in going to a place he had never been before.
near the Cafeteria stating there
was a Science group traveling to Chicago to get a good understanding of the
Museum of Science and Industry the upcoming summer and he immediately said to
himself, “I’ve gotta do that.”
With that, Kaine rushed to his
Science teacher, Mr. Allen and asked him how to get into the group, to which
Mr. Allen replied, “First, you’ve got to get your parents to sign this form,
then they have to pay the principal for all the accommodations required for
this journey.” Kaine replied to Mr. Allen “Yes sir, thank you very much sir.” As
Kaine walked out of the Science room, Mr. Allen pointed out another thing to
him. “And remember Kaine.” Kaine turned around to hear the last important
thing. “You’re on this trip to learn, not to goof off.”
With that, Kaine walked out of the room
excitedly, knowing that he was traveling to a city he had never been to in his
life.
All that remade was for his parents
to sign the form and pay for the things required for the trip. Kaine knew he
was in for one big adventure and was ready to get out of the state again.
After multiple months of learning
in class, the month of May finally arrived and Kaine was ready for school to be
over with so he could enjoy his Science trip to Chicago. One Friday night after
getting done with classes, Kaine and several other students met in Mr. Allen’s
classroom for trip briefing. As each student went to go find a desk to sit at,
Mr. Allen passed out itineraries to every student. As Mr. Allen spoke, he pointed
out every single detail of the trip, including the hotel they would be staying
in, the Museums they would be visiting and some of the restaurants they would
be eating as a group. As Mr. Allen continued speaking, Kaine raised his hand
for a question. “Excuse me, sir. I don’t happen to see anything in this itinerary
regarding the Ghirardelli ice cream shop.” “Well, I’m sorry Kaine, we won’t be
stopping for Ice Cream on this trip.” Kaine was then disappointed, for he had
been dying for some Ghirardelli ice cream forever and he thought by going to
Chicago, he would finally get the opportunity to dine on some. “Well sir,”
Asked Kaine “Are there any meals of the day that are not reserved on this Itinerary?”
Mr. Allen then replied, “Well Kaine, dinner is optional for Thursday and Friday
nights. So I won’t mind if you students go out for your own dinner on those two
nights. But I do ask that you return to the Hotel by eight, or I am goanna
start worrying for you, and have to report you lost. So you must stick with the
group at all times. I don’t want have another lost student on my watch after
that trip to Hollywood three years ago.”
Kaine then nodded his head in
understanding, knowing that this trip would definitely be one of those that
required a lot of discipline and focus, but seeing as he could be pretty flexible,
he would be willing to accept the terms and row with it.
